A Swimmer is a type of Pokémon Trainer. Male Swimmers are referred to as Swimmer ♂ (Japanese: かいパンやろう Swimsuit Guy; in Generation I, also known as かいパン Swimsuit) and debuted in Generation I; female Swimmers are referred to as Swimmer ♀ (Japanese: ビキニのおねえさん Bikini Lady) and debuted in Generation II. From Generations II to IV, the Trainer classes were formatted as Swimmer♂ and Swimmer♀. Swimmers specialize in Water-type Pokémon. They are usually found in the sea.
When female Swimmers are paired with male Tubers in Double Battles, they are called Sis & Bros. Pairs of one male and one female Swimmer are known as Swimmers, while a pair of two female Swimmers is known as Swimmer Girls.
In FireRed and LeafGreen, Beauties from Generation I games on water routes were replaced with Swimmer♀. In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! they remained Beauties like in Pokémon Yellow, but the Beauties who appear on these routes wear swimsuits.
In Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Sword, and Shield, they keep their Pokémon in Dive Balls.
In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Swimmers will award three Poké Balls along with prize money upon being defeated.
Appearance
The male Swimmers are often depicted as slim or muscular men wearing swimming trunks or speedos. Their appearances from Generation I to Generation VI have them wear swimming hats and goggles. The female Swimmers are often depicted as slim young women wearing bikinis and sometimes carrying beach balls.

Trivia
- Because of the lack of female Swimmers, female Trainers encountered on water routes in Generation I are of the Beauty and Jr. Trainer♀ classes. Female Swimmers use unique models in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, but are still referred to as Beauties.
- For the first time in Generation V, male Swimmers are depicted with swim shorts in a Japanese release. In previous games, they were depicted wearing swim briefs, which would sometimes be changed into swim shorts for international releases.
- In the Japanese version of Pokémon Black and White, a female Swimmer claims that the place in her bikini where she stores her Poké Balls is a "woman's secret": 「ビキニの わたしが どこに モンスターボールを しまうのか? フフフ…… 女(おんな)の 秘密(ひみつ)よ」 However, this was changed in the English version: "I'm a girl with everything... Well, everything but a place to put my Poké Balls!"
- In Pokémon GO, "Swimmer" is the name of an achievement medal awarded for catching at least 10 Water-type Pokémon.
- The male and blond female swimmers from Alola were designed by TOKIYA.[1]
