All I can say is Pepe was created in 2005 by a cartoonist named Matt Furie, who only created it as a generic frog-based cartoon character who says "Feels good, man", with absolutely no political leanings whatsoever. It's what certain hate groups did with Pepe later on that led to him being labeled as a hate symbol. How long will it be before icons like Mickey Mouse and even Mario become hate symbols?
