Polkadot Stingray (Japanese: ポルカドットスティングレイ, Porukadotto Sutingurei, stylized as POLKADOT STINGRAY; founded April, 2014) is a Japanese rock band, originating in Fukuoka. The current members are Shizuku, (vocals and guitar) Harushi Ejima, (guitar) Yuki Uemura, (bass) and Kazuma Mitsuyasu (drums). Muro was previously known as the band's guitarist, who left in 2015.

History

The band's vocalist, Shizuku, has historically been a large fan of the series since she was a child, creating a great deal of fan art for various Pokémon and characters. Despite POLKADOT STINGRAY's feature in a Pokémon Masters commercial in the runup to its global launch in 2019,[1] Shizuku herself announced the band's first full collaboration in August 2023 as part of the Pokémon Music Collective with a song and music video both called Ghost Dive.[2] It's possible that the track was born out of her love for Ghost-type Pokémon, which are second only to Fairy.[3]

The release was set to be September 27th, 2023, and samples Lavender Town, originally making its debut in Pokémon Red & Green.
