Basically, if these two Thunderbolt Pokemon were to engage in combat which one do you think would win in this electrifying brawl?

I watched the episode where Pikachu fights Gary’s for the first time in awhile and it got me thinking to his battle with Paul’s at the Sinnoh League.

Paul’s-seen as a Pokemon with tremendous endurance and power ever since it was an Elekid that shut Pikachu down in their first and last battles (as an Elekid=tie and as Electavire it won “even though Pikachu fought against 2 Pokemon prior to its showdown with Electavire”). Not to mention the way Paul uses its body to its advantage using its two tails for defense as well as offense. As well as it using Thunder as a Counter-Shield (Though with Motor Drive on both of them I don’t think it will be that effective or useful for that matter).

Gary’s-only seen 3 times in the Electavire form only, beat Ash’s Pikachu without taking one hit while losing to TG’s Toxicroak but it and Umberon were trying to stop TG and Hunter J at the same time so Gary’s focus had to be split between enemies which lead to their defeat.

Personally, I would say Paul’s may have the edge but it would be a tough match because like Ash, Paul had been shown to think outside of the box. Gary did teach his Electavire to “fly” by using its tails as a spring-like object to jump high into the air, Paul taught his Electavire to use its tails to tangle up its opponents as well as use a pseudo Stone Edge or Rock Slide-like attack where its tails unleash a powerful Thunder to produce parts of the battlefield to damage its opponent.

Remember that both have Motor Drive which makes electric moves useless unless the “Thunder on the field” technique counts for anything. Both know; Protect, Thunderpunch and Thunder, Paul’s knows Brick Break and Gary’s knows Iron Tail. Paul’s backup moves are Light Screen and Giga Impact while Gary’s probably forgot Thunderbolt in place of Thunder.

The one who is more creative with their attacks would come out on top. Who do you think would win?

Yes, I know both trainers have more than this Pokemon in common but these are the ones that standout above the rest well to me anyway.
