They really haven't had substance and I mean I guess it appeals to some people.

Dawn's arc had plenty of substance... There was a lot of growht and developpement from both her and her pokémon. Plus, da sparklez doesn't mean lack of great battles and wicked pokémon moves. The finals of the Daybreak contest, the Zoey v Nando semifinals and the May v Drew battle in the Kanto GF all had drama, tension, wicked moves and do not only rank as the best contest battles, but amongst the greates battle in the anime period.

It's just we don't really see Ash battle that much anymore.

Yeah, I guess all of his gym battles, his battles against his rivals, the Hearthome Tag team tournament, the battle against Palmer, all of the double battles and battles against random COTD didn't happen then...

Ash isn't the only main character anymore, the show doesn't revolve solely around him.

Back in Kanto and Johto he was battling trainers every episode.

XD The Ledyba episode, The hoppip episode, the woppit episode, a fifth of Kanto and half of Johto would like to have a word with you...

Now he really only battles in gyms and rarely with rivals and other stuff.

He battled Paul and Barry more than he ever battled Gary...

I question the point of Dawn's Togekiss now. It didn't really do anything for her to be honest.

No it didn't. Quite frankly, I'm glad it didn't. It would have cheapened the win.

I really wasn't that opposed to Ambipom leaving, but I feel like it would have been better to have just kept Dawn's team at 5 and brought Ambipom back for the GF.

I totally agree with this. Ambipom really felt like it didn't contribute a whole lot to the show anymore, no more real developpement, so I wasn't really sad to it go, but I wish Dawn hadn't got Togekiss and just brought back Ambi just for the GF. I might have not felt that way had we gotten Togekiss sooner and seen Dawn train it a lot, helped it master a move or something, but two episodes before, no.

Togekiss should have gone to Jessie.
