Devolution Spray (Japanese: 退化スプレー Degeneration Spray) is an Item card. It was first released in the Base Set as a Trainer card.

Card text

Base Set print

Choose 1 of your own Pokémon in play and a Stage of Evolution. Discard all Evolution cards of that Stage or higher attached to that Pokémon. That Pokémon is no longer Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed, Poisoned, or anything else that might be the result of an attack (just as if you had evolved it).

Dragons Exalted print

Devolve 1 of your evolved Pokémon and put the highest stage Evolution card on it into your hand. (That Pokémon can't evolve this turn.)

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Fates Collide and Evolutions print

Devolve 1 of your evolved Pokémon and put the highest Stage Evolution card on it into your hand. (That Pokémon can't evolve this turn.)

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Release information

This card was included in the Base Set expansion with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. It was later released as an Item card with an updated effect in the Dragons Exalted expansion, first released in the Japanese Dragon Blast expansion, with new artwork by Ryo Ueda. The Japanese print was later reprinted as one of the BW-P Promotional cards, one of four cards included as inserts with the January 2013 issue of V Jump magazine, released on November 21, 2012. This print also has the V Jump logo in the bottom left corner.

It was reprinted again in the Fates Collide expansion with new artwork by Toyste Beach, first released in the Japanese Awakening Psychic King expansion. It was reprinted as a retro card in the Evolutions expansion, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary subset, featuring the same artwork as the original print and an updated card template reminiscent of the Original Series layout.
